Born and raised in Roswell New Mexico, Kyle began his career in the railroad industry in 2001 when he formed his company "Rusty Spike, Inc".  For well over a decade he built a reputable business where he established himself all over the country.  His quality workmanship allowed him to become successful through repeat transactions with companies like BNSF, UP, Texas/New Mexico Railroad, and Southwest Railroad. Kyle also collaborated with large corporations such as Halliburton, Mosaic, Holly Corp, Freeport McMoran Copper & Gold, and Intrepid.  

As a railroad business owner, Kyle prides himself in maintaining an accident free environment and understands how important safety is; therefore, he provides each employee with ongoing safety education, certifications and training.   

Kyle also is Co-Founder of Double K Recycling and Supply, Inc in Roswell NM.  This recycling center primarily functions most of its metal shipment by rail.  

Because of his extensive knowledge in the Railroad Industry, Kyle's proficiencies has given him the opportunity to  join forces with his brother, Khory, in the creation of Ironhorse Permian Basin. 

Kyle holds a Bachelors in Business Administration from Lubbock Christian University and holds a RR construction license.  Kyle also is Mine Safety 


Relocating back to his hometown to Roswell New Mexico from Dallas Texas, Khory collaborated with his brother, Kyle on the creation of Ironhorse Permian Basin in late 2012.   Khory's background in the Oil and Gas industry began over a decade ago when managed over a billion dollars in assets for a private oil and gas company. This company had much to do with the development of Permian and Williston Basin; therefore, his knowledge of the area is extensive. His Executive Management title allowed him to advise and assist in negotiation on acquisitions, as well as, structure divestitures on oil and gas assets; this included the overseeing of day to day operations.  

When Khory lived in Dallas Texas, he researched, developed, and implemented a highly successful oil and gas leasing program in the Northern United States where he closed multi-million dollar transactions.  With such exponential oil growth in the Northern region of the United States and with Khory's working experience in that area, he is very well aware of the demand rail transportation and its efficiencies.   

Khory's expertise is shown and proven when it comes to oil and gas management and corporate success which has permitted him to be the Co-Founder of Ironhorse Permian Basin. 

Khory is a Texas Tech Alumni with a duel degree in Petroleum Land Management and Finance.  


Kenny, a New Mexico Native, has established highly succesfull relationships statewide as he is the Co-Founder of Double K Recycling  and Supply Inc. in 2010.  This full service center ships and receives scrap metal by rail.  As a vendor and owner of this operation center, Kenny holds and maintains existing relationships with Southwest Railroad and BNSF which has given him the experience needed to safely oversee Ironhorse's rail terminal.  

Kenny also operates his own dirt work company which allowed him to supervise all dirt work preparation for Rusty Spike for the past 10 years.  Kenny is highly efficient as he has prepared over 100,000 track feet of dirt work in his lifetime which brings a huge asset to Ironhorse Permian Basin.  

 Kenny is also certified in Mine Safety Hazard Admin (MSHA) and prides himself as accident free.  


Paul, a Roswell NM Native, played a pivotal role in the rapid growth and success of Rusty Spike, Inc in 2010; therefore, he has been asked to join Ironhorse's team.  He quickly learned the railroad business and for the past four years has become the "utility man" for the company.  Mr. Pappas is involved in all aspects of planning, ordering material, and managing cost.  Like all employees, Paul works hands on during all construction phases and projects.  Before becoming involved in the railroad business, Paul worked in the insurance corporate setting where he was a Litigation Specialist and Bodily Injury Adjuster where he resolved large loss/high exposure bodily injury claims.    The experience and knowledge that Paul has brought to Ironhorse is invaluable because he allows extra added security to all projects with safety being his first priority.  

Paul is a New Mexico State University Graduate with a dual Business Degree in Finance and Real Estate.  He is also Mine Safety Hazard Admin certified (MSHA) 


Since retiring after 32 years with BNSF, Mr. Alba went to work for Rusty Spike, Inc. in 2004 and has been an integral part of railroad success.  For over three decades, Albert has retained and gained knowledge about the railroad business that is invaluable to Ironhorse Permian Basin.  

As a young man and before working for BNSF, Albert proudly served our country in the United States Army as a Heavy Equipment Mechanic and spent several years as an Automotive Technician for Mazda Motors.  

Ironhorse Energy Partners prides themselves having Mr. Alba as an advisor because of his knowledge and expertise in the railroad industry.  Albert is a prime representation where experience meets education.

Moving from Southern California in 1991, David Hoekstra found his home in Roswell New Mexico where he began the successes of starting multiple dairies.  Because of his extensive background in this business, David has earned and developed many successful agricultural and business relationships across New Mexico and continues to own and run multiple dairies.   

Mr. Hoekstra has been an integral part of the formation of Ironhorse Permian Basin as he was the land owner of the 350 acres acquired by Ironhorse. 

David has been an unprecedented advisor in all aspects in the integration and formation of Ironhorse showing full commitment and leadership.   




Kevin moved back to Southeastern New Mexico to join the team in August 2014.  Kevin spent nearly two decades working in healthcare. Kevin’s experience ranges from a financial analyst for major tertiary healthcare system to a member of the senior leadership team as the CFO of a small rural hospital. In his healthcare career, he has overseen, directed, or assisted in the following: hiring of all business operations related employees for a new hospital, development of employee benefit plans, annual budget development and implementation, annual Medicare reporting, annual tax return preparation, software implementation, transitioning a hospital to the status of a critical access hospital (CAH), working with regional directors and consultants in the development of CAH models and budgets, data mining, treasury management, and serving on finance committees.  Kevin’s experience with start-ups and transitioning companies along with his extensive finance background will serve Ironhorse well.

Kevin graduated from Lubbock Christian University with a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration/ Finance and holds a MBA from Texas Tech University.
